Why I Chose the Genre of Drama
I chose the drama genre because drama movies are always interesting and include unexpected turns in the story that keeps the viewer in the edge of their seat. It has the best parts of most other genres like mystery and romance. So many classic movies fall under the drama genre such as Titanic, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and the list goes on. All of the movies have a few things in common. Each one has a characters or characters that the audience is forced to fall in love and they each face some type of adversity that they must overcome. The opening scenes of these movies usually start out with background on the characters or show the setting in which the movie is going to take place. The great thing about drama movies is that they can include other genres within them. Titanic is one of the most iconic love stories of all time and is known by people across the globe. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas covers one of the most important topics in history. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button not only includes drama but it also brings scifi into it as well. Drama movies evoke many strong emotions from the audience based on the story being told. You could describe dramas as "emotional rollercoasters" because they include ups and downs and the interesting thing about dramas is that they do not always have a happy ending, although we wish they did. In Titanic, spoiler alert, one of them dies. As well as in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. On the other hand, some do have happy endings such as Forrest Gump.
